Other possible variations on the opscon:

  • allow instructions through cable connection or portable media
  • have user interface to allow user to select products
  • use power from existing grid instead of generating own
  • create own feedstock from raw materials
  • have product handling abilities to store and/or assemble product blocks
  • put nanofactory in sheltered facility (can't do solar power, but avoid storm damage)

Other suggestions?

In/outdoor unimportant  by Chris Phoenix, CRN 02:46, 30 Sep 2004 (CDT)

The distinction between indoor and outdoor isn't very important. A shield could be made out of a large thin double-walled balloon that would maintain shirtsleeve conditions in anything less than a hurricane.

Oh, hardening the nanofactory is easy, but then that's part of the nanofactory system (what you have to reproduce to get another nanofactory) rather than an external interface you have to make it comply with. My goal for the opscon is to help define what's inside and outside the system.
